What to look for

  • VHF + UHF support: some NBC stations broadcast on VHF, so choose an antenna rated for both bands.
  • Realistic range: ignore inflated mileage claims; distance to the tower and terrain matter more.
  • Placement: higher is better. A window, attic or rooftop beats behind the TV.
  • Amplifier only if needed: amplifiers help with long cable runs but can overload signals near the tower.

Setup in 3 steps

  • Find your local NBC station on our NBC channel by state pages.
  • Point or place the antenna toward that station's transmitter.
  • Run a channel scan in your TV's settings, and re-scan whenever you move the antenna.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a special antenna for NBC?

No. Any HD (digital) TV antenna can receive NBC if you are within range of your local NBC station's transmitter.

Indoor or outdoor antenna?

Indoor antennas work well within about 25–30 miles of the transmitter. Farther away, or behind hills, an attic or rooftop antenna is usually more reliable.

Why can't I get NBC with my antenna?

Some NBC stations broadcast on VHF frequencies, which flat indoor antennas pick up poorly. Try re-scanning channels, moving the antenna higher or near a window, or using an antenna rated for both VHF and UHF.
